The boys of NJ are going to have a hot weekend in the CJ Invitational hosted across Pittsgrove’s Green Branch Park and Cohansey Soccer club this weekend 7/16 & 7/17. I was down there last week with my U11 and U15 girls teams and temperatures were moderate, but this weekend hot weather soccer preparation comes into play. Teams from all over Region 1 come to compete in south jersey (wonder why it is called Central Jersey Invitational?) and I have previewed the best of NJ in attendance. I wish the best of luck to all competing New Jersey teams in hopes that only we take home the Championship medals!

Top Flight This Weekend
U13 Bobby Wood: This flight is stacked as you can see from the above teams list. MFC Celtic currently sits as the #6 team in the country for next year’s U14s. FC Copa Sporting is a NJ Cup Super Group Finalist. Bridgewater is an accomplished U12 8v8 team and NJ Cup finalist themselves. Mt Olive is coming off a win at the Lehigh Valley Challenge, and solid performance in Pocono proving they are soccer fit. Round it out with an STA Morris United 02 club and TSF Summer Academy team and you have the perfect circumstances for great NJ soccer.
Games to Watch: If you have time and a portable air conditioner, go sit and watch these…
Sat 7/16 U18/19: East Brunswick Dynamo vs. Team America 99 (VA) – 9:35AM on Field 14 Pittsgrove. I wonder if the squad from Virginia looks like this —————————>
Unlikely, but I always like to watch the older groups play more free-flowing competition and this is a good one with a quality team from NJ and VA.
Sat 7/16 U15: Saltsjobadens IF Sea Lions (SWE) vs. Bordentown Blitz – 12PM on Field 7 Pittsgrove. It is not every day you get to play a team from Sweden, but have they ever felt the heat and humidity of NJ? Those Swedes get an opening game at Noon, take it to them Bordentown.
Sat 7/16 U11: Harrison SC Huskies vs. New York Red Bulls 05 – 3:40PM on Field 18 Pittgrove. The Huskies (FKA Force) look to take on the pro-team hopefuls in RDS who were very impressive at the EDP Summer Classic in their first 4 ranked games. Taking out a Middletown Lightning team that has done nothing but perform all season.
Sun 7/17 U14: Harrison SC Vipers vs. Parsippany SC Revolution – 8:25AM on Field 12 Pittsgrove. This could be the final before the final, I just hope Parsippany families got a hotel room for Saturday night and aren’t making the 2 hour drive for an early game!
Sun 7/17 U13: Bobby Wood Bracket Final – 3:40PM Field 5 Pittsgrove. Whoever survives the group and makes it to this point is going to give it their all in the Final. The game to watch of the weekend!

I am sure they are… I just do not typically talk about teams under U11 because in my opinion it should still all be about having fun and developing technique at those ages.
