NJ Cup Deadline Day 4/4 – Girls Edition

On Wednesday I highlighted the NJ Cup Tournament for the boys with key matchups taking place this weekend with 1st and 2nd round cutoffs this Monday.  This time around it is the girls brackets who get the focus with a lot of talented teams in form and ready to go.  Below are some games I recognize as some of the best in New Jersey, but if you feel your team deserves a shout out, feel free to comment at the bottom of the page.

U11G 8v8:  SDFC Strikers (GS 9) vs. Princeton IGFA 04/05 White (GS 8)

Two strong teams compete in the Final year of the 8v8 format.  SDFC out of Montclair hosts PSA’s International Girls Futbol Association in what I am sure will be a great game of young NJ talent.  IGFA just squeaked into this contest winning in PKs over Marlboro Cyclones in round 1.

U12G 11v11:  STA Morris United NPL 03 (GS 12) vs. Bulldogs BSA 04 Sky (GS 6)

For both teams I would say this is a tough draw in Round 1.  STA Morris continues to chug as a powerhouse club in NJ and Bergen Bulldogs are a new club out to prove they are the tougher county in New Jersey.

U13G Super:  STA Morris United NPL 02 (GS 4) vs. Delran FC Union (GS 14)

I feel like I could feature STA in every article, this time a matchup against a very athletic team from Delran that will definitely give them a run for their money.  Delran also won convincingly to get here, but they have a long drive ahead of them in this 2nd round game.

U13G Premier:  Lawrence Hamnett Huskies (GS 33) vs. Freehold Arsenal Blue (GS 20)

Freehold Arsenal Blue

I know both teams well as I have some former players of mine on Lawrence and have matched up against Freehold more than a few times.  This will be a good game, and Lawrence with home field advantage will make this a narrow contest in the end.

U14G Super:  Jersey Shore Boca Jr. Fusion (GS 11) vs. FC Copa Academy Lima (GS 30)

A shout out to this game because the goal keeper for Jersey Shore is fantastic.  Claire guested for me recently and showed why her team is so highly ranked.  FC Copa has a very athletic and quick team that will compete though, in what will undoubtedly be a game to watch this weekend.

U15G Super:  Old Bridge Riptide (GS 28) vs. Next Level Fury (GS 40)

Two teams looking for the right to play Princeton SA IGFA in the 2nd round.  I imagine these two have seen each other prior and it will be a good game of different styles of play.

U16G Super:  Mercer FC Magic (GS 15) vs. NJ Wildcats Kaos (GS 36)

This is just one of Mercer FC’s 5 game night on Monday in West Windsor.  A top girls team for 3 years in Magic face off against NJ Wildcats club who always competes.  mercerfc

U17G Super:  TBAA Fire (GS 6) vs. Princeton SA ICFA 98/99 (GS 44)

Both teams have been busy with early season tournaments, TBAA at Jeff Cup and Bethesda and IGFA at NEFC and Manhattan.  Now they face off in first round competition in the NJ Cup which will undoubtedly be a great game of College talent.
